Sexual Health Clinic

Aviemore Medical Practice runs a sexual health clinic every Tuesday from 4.30 – 6.00pm for residents of the Badenoch and Strathspey area only.

Please call 01479 810258 to book an appointment.

What we offer:

  • STI screening
  • Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PreP): blood testing once seen and assessed by Highland Sexual health clinic
  • Emergency contraception: however we would usually recommend you call the practice to speak to the triage team to avoid any delay. We can offer the copper IUD as emergency contraception depending on clinican availability.

We don’t offer:

  • routine contraception; please book a routine GP appointment at your own registered practice for this.
  • Supply PreP or undertake the initial consultation for this.
  • Coil or nexplanon insertion within this Tuesday afternoon clinic; these are arranged in a separate clinic at the practice for which you will need a GP appt to discuss first.
  • Chronic conditions that would best be delivered with continuity of a GP.
  • Termination of pregnancy referrals

If your enquiry is more urgent and cannot wait until Tuesday, please contact your GP Practice or Highland Sexual Health clinic via T: 01463 888300 or via their website here

Are you under 25 years? Highland Sexual Health clinic have a live chat service every weekday afternoon 4 to 6pm: please see https://highlandsexualhealth.co.uk/

Information about intrauterine contraception “the coil” (copper IUD or hormonal IUD)

For those patients registered with us, if you are considering a coil for contraception (or menorrhagia or as part of HRT), please make an appointment with a GP to discuss this and ensure it is the most appropriate for you.

If you have been added to our waiting list, it would be useful for you to watch the video on Vimeo here although please note since this video was made the mirena has now been licensed for 8 years for contraception; but 5 years as part of HRT; Kylena a lower dose hormonal coil is still licensed for 5 years for contraception.

If you haven’t already received a checklist form from us prior to your appointment for coil insertion or change, please complete the checklist online:
